I ♥ Thursday {no. 3}

This outfit, because it's just so comfy and fun to wear!

That it's baseball season again... yes I am a baseball nerd. :P

That this brother of mine (Caleb) announced his engagement to the lovely young lady sitting next to him, and so now our family is going crazy with wedding plans.  Thankfully, we have 11 months. :)

Is this not the coolest shower curtain you've ever seen?  It's both pretty (neat) and educational in the process.  If you like geography, that is.  And I do.  So yeah.

Remembering this fun day last May, when our family planted a garden in our Grandma's back yard.  That is our garden today.  And what a beautiful and productive garden it has turned out to be.

I want to do this, sometime this spring.  Set a dandelion on fire, and watch it burn pink.  Amazing photo, eh?

Blessings - Laura Story

I would like to buy some succulents and put them in my room to cheer things up.  We'll see if I do that this spring or not. :)

The Christianity Club {Re-blogged}

Jesus told the Pharisees that he came not for the healthy but for the sick, and I knew that I was the kind of person he was talking about.
I was dirty in that moment – impossibly messy. I was tangled and frantic and the last person you want sitting next to you at a dinner party. I needed help in the worst possible way and was far too exhausted to notice that my shiny facade was now smeared with runny mascara.
The only thing holding me up in that moment was Jesus – and I understood him for the first time, all over again.
He he sat down in the thick of the mess with me and took my hand. He didn’t try to clean me up or make me presentable – he didn’t even try to fix me. He just sat there with me. It was that moment on my bed when something cracked.

That is so me at times recently.  Life is tough, and sometimes there is nothing to cling to except Jesus.  No answers.  No reasons for what is happening.  Life is hard to figure out, and more often than not, I am left scratching my head in bewilderment.

But....

When life is messy and doesn't make sense, the best thing I can do, is turn everything and everyone else off, and just talk / or listen, to Jesus.  I find Truth and healing in Him.  Truth and healing I will not find anywhere else!

 ------

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through Me.

John 14:6

Sunday Meditation

"Then Jesus cried out and said, “He who believes in Me, believes not in Me but in Him who sent Me. And he who sees Me sees Him who sent Me. I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness. And if anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him—the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day. For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak. And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak."

John 12:44-50

A fun photoshoot

Last night, Jo grabbed me and said she wanted to take some pictures of me, before it got too dark outside, so we walked over to the mulch pile, and I climbed atop of it, and she snapped away.  Here are the fruits of her labor. :)

Thanks to my amazing sister Johanna, for capturing these images.  I liked them all, so it was hard to decide out of the 12 or so pictures, which ones to post.

--------------------

I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul shall make its boast in the Lord;
The humble shall hear of it and be glad.
Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
And let us exalt His name together.

Psalm 34:1-3

All my tears

All my tears were not unseen by You
Each of them You held in Your bottle
As dew upon the grass at dawn
Each of them are dear to You
And none of them fall to the ground unnoticed
When I cry You are aware of my pain
And cry to me "My daughter!"
Courage and hope fill my heart
When I read the words of life You hold.
Truth is what I should cling to most
And turn aside from worthless rubbish;
Surrounding my life is an ocean of scum.
Worthless, wasteful and wanton sin call
But so do You.
And if my heart breaks, whose fault is it?
My own entirely.
For should I choose the Path of Life
Or the Way marked Death?
So easily my feet slip off The Path
And yet You gently guide me through tears
Back onto the Path which so clearly and well-marked
Stretches out before my feet
And I will joyfully embrace it, no matter.
And all my tears You see
And I embrace them for they were given me by You.

Hedgehogs are soooo cute!  I have a friend whose little friend, Beatrix, is super adorable, almost tempting me into hedgehog ownership. ;)

Reflexology was something that came into play when I was so ill recently, and how it helped!  Isn't it amazing how God created our bodies

Poppies are my favorite flower right now.  They have the most brilliant colors, and their delicate petals are so attractive and beautiful.  A city near where I live has them planted in the medians of certain streets - such cheeriness!

LOVE love that Spring is finally here!

Remembering Bonhoeffer - 68 years

"No one has yet believed in God and the kingdom of God, no one has yet heard about the realm of the resurrected, and not been homesick from that hour, waiting and looking forward joyfully to being released from bodily existence.
Whether we are young or old makes no difference.  What are twenty or thirty or fifty years in the sight of God?  And which of us knows how near he or she may already be to the goal?  That life only really begins when it ends here on earth, that all that is here is only the prologue before the curtain goes up – that is for young and old alike to think about.  Why are we so afraid when we think about death?…  Death is only dreadful for those who live in dread and fear of it.  Death is not wild and terrible, if only we can be still and hold fast to God’s Word.  Death is not bitter, if we have not become bitter ourselves.  Death is grace, the greatest gift of grace that God gives to people who believe in him.  Death is mild, death is sweet and gentle; it beckons to us with heavenly power, if only we realize that it is the gateway to our homeland, the tabernacle of joy, the everlasting kingdom of peace.
How do we know that dying is so dreadful?  Who knows whether, in our human fear and anguish we are only shivering and shuddering at the most glorious, heavenly, blessed event in the world?
Death is hell and night and cold, if it is not transformed by our faith.  But that is just what is so marvelous, that we can transform death."
 --Dietrich Bonhoeffer (1906-1945)

I ♥ Thursday {no. 1}

Father Brown Mystery series (BBC) -- based on G.K. Chesterton's crime solving Priest Father Brown short stories.  Fascinating story lines and beautifully shot in the Cotswolds of England. :)

Looking forward to doing this with my sisters once we have some dry, warmer weather.  I love spring in all of its majestic color, and the fact that it gets dark later is a bonus.

Every Good Thing - The Afters -- A great pick me up song, peppy and great lyrics that remind me of all the blessings I am surrounded by, every day.  And how little time I really have on this earth.  God IS the reason for every good thing.

I'm really loving the sandals that are popular this spring / summer.  Some are really quite cute and classic looking.

My Pinterest feed has been clogged by so many cute spring dresses and skirts, paired with thin belts that are simply rad!  Here is one example that I liked enough to re-pin to my wardrobe inspiration board.  I like the polkadots, blue and brown.  A nice, casual and comfy look that is also feminine and simple.

Loved celebrating Resurrection Day so early this year!  It was a day full of joy and thankfulness to Jesus for His ultimate sacrifice on my behalf.  It is my favorite Holiday, and I always get pumped up for Passion Week, where I intensely reflect on His most precious gift to humanity -- Salvation, free and full of grace, mercy and love.

Amen!  After having the worst flu / stomach bug over the last couple of days (Tues-Wed) I can attest to the fact that eating healthy, and living healthfully are definitely something I am passionate about, and have been for my entire life.  Thank God for essential oils and other natural remedies that helped me through a horrible couple of days -- and to my amazing Mom, and sisters Phoebe and Jo.

Child of the 90s -- Internet Explorer (just the way I remember it, and yes I was one of "those" kids who played Oregon Trail).
