Sewing project, done.

Way back in the summer, I began creating a denim skirt for my own use.  I wanted it to be full enough where I could run and climb and play ball in it comfortably.  Then we had our church’s VBS, our long-planned for family vacation, school shopping, the resuming of the school year, and still my half-finished skirt lay miserably undone.

Sometime in October Mom suggested that we work to complete my skirt, as I was in need of some clothing.  I reluctantly agreed.  Sewing is not “my cup of tea” as it were, though I understand its value.

We began again to sew on this project, and after many starts and stops, I put the final stitches into the waist-band last night!  Hooray!

The Tunnel People

I ran across this fascinating story via Abraham’s blog Twenty-Two Words. It describes in pictures the life of so many individuals who have no other place to go but down.  Life in the water tunnels underneath Las Vegas.

Shocking and saddening, your eyes will be opened to the plight of many who have fallen upon hard times in one of the most tourist rich cities on earth.

I think this shows us just how bad things have gotten for some people who are literally struggling to survive in today’s world.  Even here in America.

Another video which can only be viewed on YouTube can be found here.
This is also a sad picture of the spiritual reality of so many Americans.  They are truly living in darkness in more ways than one.

Trust and Obey

  1.  When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
    What a glory He sheds on our way!
    While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
    And with all who will trust and obey.
    • Refrain:
      Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
      To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
  2. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
    But His smile quickly drives it away;
    Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
    Can abide while we trust and obey.
  3. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
    But our toil He doth richly repay;
    Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
    But is blessed if we trust and obey.
  4. But we never can prove the delights of His love
    Until all on the altar we lay;
    For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
    Are for them who will trust and obey.
  5. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
    Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
    What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
    Never fear, only trust and obey.
